I keep getting mail from a company called Magic Kids,Inc. Does anyone know anything about this company?

Yes, it's a scam. Unless you think providing advertising, at your expense, for another company to make money is a good idea...

My opinion: Any business that want you to pay to work for them is NO GOOD. why do i say that? you should not have to pay a company to work for them. And if they are trying to help you make some extra money then it should be free honest help with no Fees. Now this is what i think i can not say much about magic kid but i too was going to try them out but after reading the letter i charge my mind. because $168.00 is a lot of money to throw again. i wish everyone well in whatever they decide to do but a little advise do not throw your money away on scan because only the scanner is getting pay! take care
