Default Atlantic Remodeling Company - Fraudulant and Deceptive

Atlantic Remodeling company is a contractor who will provide replacement windows. The current brand they are supporting is Accu Weld Windows.

This company has very deceptive business practices and sales techniques, which include the following:

1. David Stavinoha, project coordinator, came to our house to give us a sales pitch.
2. After going through a 5 hour sales pitch on windows, he gave us an initial quote of over $14,000. This sales person is extremely aggressive and rude, who shows visible anger if you want to try and back out of a contract because of price.
3. This rate was "non-negotiable", but, if we signed that night, we could get 25% knocked off of the quoted price, driving the price down to $11k range.
4. We still didn't want to sign, so he "called his manager" and requested that he would be able to sell the windows at $8,500.
5. Manager agreed - and gave him some internal stipulations that he would need to do (e.g., use money from a sales fund to cover any overage costs that AR may incur, homeowner must provide a referral if they are happy with the windows, homeowner must put a sign in front of their house for 60 days if they are happy with the windows).
6. Around 11pm that night, my wife and I signed a contract, which totaled $9,010.
- Quoted price of $8,500
- Sales tax was added on
- 3% surcharge tax was added onto the initial deposit to 'cover credit card fees', called 'processing fee'
- The sales tax number is actually a Maryland state sales tax number of 6% (e.g., $8,500 x 1.06 = $9,010), but I live in Virginia.
7. When the GM of Atlantic Remodeling was contacted, Jim Yates, he proceeded to state "What tax? There isn't tax on the contract...you didn't pay tax". I explained to him the situation, and he basically said, you are screwed buddy, enjoy.

I have opened a ticket with the BBB, submitted a notarized letter to the Attorney General of Virginia, and have disputed the charges on my credit card.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
